The Department of History and Art Conservation at 国产91尤物福利在线观看鈥檚 University is pleased to congratulate Professor Joan Schwartz on her appointment to the newly established International Advisory Board of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. Nominated for her expertise in 鈥渁rchives, acquisitions, teaching, research, and institutional discourse鈥 as well as for her world-recognized contributions to scholarship on nineteenth-century photography, Professor Schwartz is one of only seven distinguished international scholars on the inaugural Advisory Board. Board members, chosen for their innovative work in fields related to the Institute鈥檚 scope of interest and research, serve a five-year term, and contribute to the development of the Institute鈥檚 research and publication strategy.

The Advisory Board鈥檚 first meeting, to be held in September 2020 in Prague, will coincide with the conference 鈥淧hoto: Science. Photography and Scientific Discourses,鈥 organized by the Photography Research Centre of the Czech Academy of Science. Established in 2018, the Photography Research Centre promotes interdisciplinary research and international collaboration with photography as its focus.

Recognized for her work at the intersection of the history of photography, archival theory and practice, and historical geography, Professor Schwartz will bring interdisciplinary insights to the conference, while her senior administrative experience and extensive work with national archives will deepen the Board鈥檚 impact and reach. 鈥淧rofessor Schwartz鈥檚 work on photography in the British Empire has completely transformed the way we understand the complex relationships between power, archives, and the photographic lens,鈥 said Department Head, Associate Professor Norman Vorano, 鈥渁nd her appointment to this International Advisory Board demonstrates, yet again, that 国产91尤物福利在线观看鈥檚 scholars are global leaders in the arts鈥.
