Dr. Naaman is a Professor in the Department of Film and Media, and has taught and co-taught FILM’s first year course for many years, turning it into a blended course for eight years (2012-2020). She helped establish Research-Creation best practices at Cultural Studies and later Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies, including addressing the complex ethical dimensions of such research and creative projects with both students and the ethics board.
Dr. Naaman’s various Research-Creation projects are site-specific, multi-disciplinary, and participatory. Most recently she is the co-lead of the SSHRC funded Belle Park Project, which makes visible, legible, and audible the histories of a wetland turned landfill, municipally owned golf course, and now a park and the home to many of Kingston’s Unhoused. The project led to multiple on-going collaborations with scientists, geographers, historians, and community members. It has also resulted in a collaborative Principal’s Impact Course award for the course: Belle Park: (UN)sustainable futures.
