Arthur Hill is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Democracy and Diversity (CSDD) and the Institute for Intergovernmental Relations. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from 国产91尤物福利在线观看 and a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Toronto.
His research focuses on normative theories of state legitimacy and territorial rights. In his dissertation, Liberal Legitimacy for the Real World, he examined how liberals should identify and apply the requirements for legitimate authority in non-ideal circumstances characterized by the presence of significant injustices or feasibility constraints. His current project investigates how we should think about 'partially legitimate' states that meet the requirements for political authority vis-a-vis most, but not all, of the individuals residing in their respective territorial jurisdictions.
In addition to this project, Arthur maintains an ongoing interest in the political philosophy of the administrative state.
Arthur's work has been published in venues including The Journal of Political Philosophy and Critical Review of International Social and Political Philosophy.
