Academic Integrity Procedures - Requirements of Faculties & Schools
This document outlines the official procedures that Faculties and Schools at ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´â€™s University must follow when addressing potential breaches of academic integrity. It provides a comprehensive framework for managing investigations, assigning sanctions, and handling appeals. The procedures clarify the roles and responsibilities of students, instructors, and academic administrators throughout the process.
Included are definitions of academic integrity values, categories of possible violations, and guidance on how cases should be documented, communicated, and resolved. The document also explains how records are maintained, how cross-Faculty cases are handled, and what steps students can take if they wish to appeal a decision.
Policy on Transcript Terminology for Students Withdrawing from ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´
In the most serious departures from academic integrity a student may be required to withdraw from the university for a period of time. During the student’s withdrawal a notation will be placed on their transcript. This policy dictates the specifics of the notation, the process of readmission and the ability to request the removal of the notation from the transcript upon return to ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´â€™s University.
Policy on Rescinding Degrees
Investigations of potential departures from academic integrity that are discovered after a student has graduated are governed by the Policy of Rescinding Degrees.

Student Academic Appeals Policy
This policy outlines the university-wide framework for students who wish to appeal academic decisions. It establishes principles and processes to ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency across Faculties and Schools. The policy applies to decisions affecting academic performance or standing, such as probation, withdrawal, or findings of academic misconduct.
It describes the roles and responsibilities of decision-makers, the structure of appeal processes, and the final level of appeal through the University Student Appeal Board (USAB). The policy also identifies available student supports, including Ombuds Academic Appeal Advisors, support persons, and legal advisors.
Faculty Jurisdiction with Respect to Student Appeals of Academic Decisions
This policy establishes that all academic appeals must be handled by the Faculty or School in which the student is registered, regardless of where the course in question is offered.
Academic Integrity Procedures - Requirements of Faculties & Schools
Students have the right to appeal the finding of a departure of academic integrity and/or the associated sanction. Section 4 of the Academic Integrity Procedures – Requirements of Faculties & Schools explains the grounds on which students are able to appeal decisions related to academic integrity departures and the process that must be followed for appeals in accordance with the Student Academic Appeals Policy and the Faculty Jurisdiction with Respect to Student Appeals of Academic Decisions.

Senate Policy on Integrity in Research
This policy outlines ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´â€™s University’s expectations for ethical conduct in research and scholarly activity. It defines responsibilities for faculty, staff, and students, and sets standards for transparency, accountability, and fairness. The policy also describes what constitutes research misconduct and provides procedures for reporting, investigating, and resolving allegations. It aligns with national and international research integrity frameworks.
Copyright Compliance and Administration Policy
This policy outlines how members of the ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´â€™s University community must use copyright-protected materials responsibly. It defines key terms, clarifies what constitutes copyright infringement, and explains the roles of faculty, staff, and students in ensuring compliance. The policy applies to all uses of copyrighted works, including teaching, research, and administrative activities, and excludes materials in the public domain.

Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic): Teaching and Learning Statements, Guidelines and Resources
The Vice Provost (Teaching and Learning) will periodically post statements, guidelines or resources of relevance to both teaching and learning as well as to upholding one or more of the values related to academic integrity. Examples of statements include those related to the use of generative artificial tools in education. An example of a guideline is guidance on the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Assessment.
Turnitin Conditions of Use
Instructors may choose to use Turnitin, a text similarity detection tool, in one or more of their courses. If so, this link outlines the required conditions for its use and provides the mandatory syllabus statement that must be included in any course using Turnitin.
