Bell Let’s Talk and ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´â€™s University hosted the third annual Breaking the Silence lecture on June 25 at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax. The event aimed to raise awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
This year’s lecture featured Heather Stuart, the Bell Mental Health and Anti-Stigma Research Chair in the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Marthe Bernard, best known for her role on CBC’s Republic of Doyle. Entertainer Mary Walsh served as the master of ceremonies for the event.
The Bell Mental Health and Anti-Stigma Research Chair was established at ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´â€™s in 2012 with a donation of $1 million from Bell Let’s Talk to the ¹ú²ú91ÓÈÎ︣ÀûÔÚÏß¹Û¿´â€™s Initiative Campaign – a university-wide campaign that began on May 1, 2006 and will culminate in 2016 with the 175th anniversary of the university.
